Senior Process Engineer

NuNano is a UK-based semiconductor SME, specialising in atomic force microscopy (AFM) probes.  We are passionate about creating high-quality products and providing the best possible customer service for researchers and engineers at the cutting-edge of nanoscale science and technology.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly-motivated and well-organised individual to join our engineering team at the Scottish Microelectronics Centre in Edinburgh.

You will have knowledge of a wide variety of semiconductor manufacturing processes, and this will be deepened by solving technical challenges, striving for process improvement and working with a range of different semiconductor processes and equipment.

Your Role

As a Senior Process Engineer you will work on the manufacture and development of NuNano’s AFM probes. This will include:

  • Manufacturing our AFM probe products using a variety of semi-automated and manual semiconductor processing and inspection equipment.

  • Analysis and reporting of tool & process data to maintain and improve production processes.

  • Research and development of new products and processes.

  • Supporting other manufacturing activities including bespoke projects and R&D, when required.

  • Work closely with other members of the team ensure smooth operation of engineering activities.

  • Meet individual and team targets and objectives, and actively contribute to planning and prioritisation of targets and objectives.

  • Working in a cleanroom environment and adhering to all health & safety procedures.

Essential

·       Broad knowledge of microfabrication processes and semiconductor manufacturing technologies and equipment.

·       Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

·       Experience of working in a cleanroom environment, along with relevant health & safety awareness.

·       Degree level qualification or equivalent in science, engineering or similar.

·       Excellent written and oral communication skills.

·       Experience of working in a team and working independently on your own initiative.

·       Self-motivated, quick learner & well organised.

Desirable

·       Working within a high-technology manufacturing or production environment.

·       Knowledge of semiconductor process control and improvement methodologies.

·       Higher degree (PhD or similar) involving microfabrication/semiconductor processing.

·       Experience documenting technical information.

Applications Engineer

We are looking for an AFM expert!  You should be an enthusiastic, motivated and well-organised individual with broad experience in atomic force microscopy.  Previous employment in a similar role would be an advantage but is not essential.  Critical thinking, initiative, strong written and verbal communication skills, and a passion for AFM are crucial.

Your Role

As an Applications Engineer you will be responsible for evaluating our existing and new AFM probes and promoting these products to our customers. This will include:.

  • Product testing – evaluate NuNano’s products across a range of AFM modes and applications.

  • Product development – work with engineering team, providing technical input to expand NuNano’s product range.

  • Reporting & analysis – provide application and performance analysis to guide engineering and management decision making.

  • Documentation – generate technical documentation of AFM probe performance to communicate to both internal and external stakeholders.

  • Marketing – work with marketing team to create technical marketing collateral (white papers, application notes etc).

  • Technical sales support – support the sales team and MD by providing technical input at various stages of the sales process.

  • Technical training – contribute to the technical training of the sales team and other members of the company.

  • Support – contribute to other company tasks and support other team members as required.

·       Good time management and organisational skills.

·       Ability to record and present data and information accurately.

·       Ability to write technical documents.

·       PhD involving the use of AFM.

·       Enthusiasm and energy, with an entrepreneurial spark to grow your own customer network.

·       Excellent written and oral communication skills in the English language.

·       Self-motivated, quick learner & well organised.

·       Able to build strong working relationships with internal and external colleagues and partners.

Desirable

·       Expertise in a variety of different AFM modes and applications.

·       Relevant experience gained in any commercial/sales area involving contact with customers.

·       Experience of quality control processes.

·       Related employment using AFM.

·       Experience documenting technical information for sales & marketing material.
