Dalia Yablon founded SurfaceChar LLC, a company offering surface and interface characterisation and measurement services, consulting, and training with a focus on SPM, AFM, and nanoindentation. SurfaceChar LLC also provides technical marketing and writing services in the area of materials and surface characterisation, nanotechnology, and scientific chemical instrumentation as well as education courses.
Her area of expertise is developing and testing new nanomechanical testing methods with application to soft materials. Recently she has become involved in machine learning efforts to improve interpretation and analysis of AFM images.

Biography: Dalia Yablon is the founder of SurfaceChar, an AFM and nanoindentation based measurement, consulting, and training company in the Greater Boston area since 2013. In addition to editing a book on “SPM in Industrial Applications” (Wiley), Dalia’s research focuses on nanomechanical characterization methods and soft material characterization, with a recent emphasis in applying machine learning tools to improve AFM image analysis.
Prior to SurfaceChar, Dalia was a research associate at ExxonMobil’s Corporate Strategic Research, where she worked across all areas of the energy industry including polymers, lubrication, corrosion, and sensing. She holds an A.B. in Chemistry from Harvard University and a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from Columbia University.
